Job Description

Carmine Therapeutics is an Esco Ventures X company pioneering a powerful new class of drugs based on engineered red blood cells extracellular vesicles (RBCEVs), founded by Esco Ventures and Professors Harvey Lodish, Minh Le and Jiahai Shi. Carmine focuses on developing a therapeutic platform that would address some of the technological unmet needs related to the delivery of next generation therapies such as nucleotide-based drugs. Carmine has assembled a stellar scientific advisory board and is well-capitalized to develop first-in-class therapies against rare diseases and cancer. Carmine will be based in Singapore but also with operations in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Carmine is looking for a Scientist to join us in this exciting venture. The candidate must be independent, technically competent and able to efficiently work across multiple projects. The ideal candidate is one who is energetic, innovative and highly motivated, with experience working with RNA and familiar with a wide variety of molecular biology techniques.


  • Design, execute and troubleshoot experiments, lead experimental work related to RNA biology and molecular biology

  • Manage studies performed by contract research organizations

  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication. Present data from research work internally and externally.

  • Contribute to scientific and strategy discussions to achieve R&D milestones

  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of research data, inventories, protocols, maintenance logs, sample processing logs, SOPs etc.

  • Lab management duties including procurement, maintaining equipment wellbeing by timely scheduling of maintenance/ servicing/ calibration.

  • Support the continued protection, creation, and expansion of company’s intellectual property.

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.


Job Requirements

  • PhD in Biology/Life Sciences/Biochemistry or related discipline, with deep scientific background in RNA biology and molecular biology

  • Extensive experience in molecular cloning and working with RNA (mRNA/RNAi)

  • Experienced in the use and engineering of viral expression systems

  • General laboratory techniques that include cell culture, cell-based assays, molecular assays (such as qPCR, ELISAs, western blot), histology & microscopy, flow cytometry, in vivo animal experiments.

  • Able to manage and ensure smooth operations in the lab.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Effective team player with a meticulous nature.
